Details
DG Glide, a business solution platform, aimed to enhance its user experience to ensure seamless and intuitive interaction. As the product was in the pre-launch phase, the team recognised the importance of identifying and resolving usability issues early to create a positive first impression and support business goals.
The primary challenge for DG Glide was ensuring that its platform met high usability and accessibility standards before launch. The stakeholders identified key concerns:
- Inconsistent design elements across workflows.
- Navigation difficulties lead to inefficient user journeys.
- Lack of clarity in key functionalities, making it harder for users to onboard and complete tasks.
These issues risked reducing user satisfaction and efficiency, which could impact the platform’s success at launch.
The product was in its pre-launch phase, providing an ideal opportunity to conduct a comprehensive UX Audit. This process aimed to identify usability challenges, propose actionable design improvements, and align the platform with user-centred best practices.
To address the identified challenges, we followed a structured Design Sprint approach broken into the following phases:
- Research & Audit (Week One):
- Conducted a thorough UX audit focusing on six key areas:
- Consistency and Standards
- Navigation
- Key Usability Issues
- Learnability
- Simplicity of Use
- Design Improvements
- Assessed the severity of impact for all findings to prioritise high-criticality issues.
- Conducted a thorough UX audit focusing on six key areas:
- Analysis & Ideation (Week Two):
- Conclusions analysed to understand the root causes of usability issues.
- Collaborated with cross-functional teams to brainstorm actionable solutions.
- Prototyping (Week Three):
- Designed prototypes to address high-priority problems, ensuring the implementation of consistent navigation, improved visual hierarchy, and simplified user flows.
- Validation and Implementation follow-up (Week Three):
- Conducted usability testing with target users to evaluate the impact of proposed changes and refine the prototypes.
The UX Audit and subsequent design improvements yielded the following outcomes:
- Improved Task Completion Rates: Usability testing showed a 45% increase in the completion of key workflows.
- Reduced Onboarding Time: The time to onboard new users decreased by 30% due to improved learnability.
- Higher Stakeholder Confidence: Early identification and resolution of critical issues boosted stakeholder confidence in the platform’s readiness for launch.
- Cost Savings: Proactively resolving issues during the pre-launch phase saved significant post-launch redesign and development costs.
Conclusion
The UX Audit for DG Glide demonstrated the value of addressing usability issues early in the product lifecycle. By focusing on user needs and aligning the design with usability best practices, I helped DG Glide create an intuitive, efficient platform ready to deliver exceptional user experiences at launch.
